Comedy drama series about a GP who relocates to the sleepy Cornish hamlet of Portwenn. Martin makes his debut on a local radio station but does not make a great impression on the interviewer. Bert and Al argue over Al's plans to go to college. A nasty stomach bug sweeps through the village - but is the swimming pool or the water to blame? Louise is keen to make amends with Martin, but then Mark invites himself along too.

Disastrous consequences result when Martin urges the village chemist to remove her neck collar. Danny has a surprise in store for Louisa, though she herself is more inclined to spend the evening with Martin.
