From bank robberies to unexplained deaths - forensic scientist Evelyn Vielitz has worked on some of the worst criminal cases in the history of the state of Brandenburg. Her job is physically and psychologically demanding but, as she says: "The victims don’t have anyone but me.” For example, on one of her cases, Vielitz had to search for the bodies of several babies killed by their mother, finally finding them in derelict houses and under piles of coal. She also had to photograph those who died in Germany’s worst bus crash at the Schönfelder Kreuz motorway intersection. Her meticulous search for clues can make a huge difference as to whether those who commit crimes are found or not.
