Volet 1 : Ugly House to Lovely House

Simon and Lisa recently bought a carbuncle on Gloucestershire's stunning rural landscape. Originally built in the Dutch barn style, this shoddy building was such a nightmare that neighbours compared it to the house in The Amityville Horror. Simon hated it so much that he wanted to bulldoze it and start again. George Clarke introduces the couple to creative architect Laura Clark. Her challenge is to come up with a scheme to turn this terrifying building into a warm, welcoming, modern home, while retaining some of its character. But with a limited budget and only nine weeks to play with, Simon and Lisa may have to get their hands dirty if they want to achieve their dream.

Volet 2 : Ugly House to Lovely House

George Clarke shows that even the ugliest house can be transformed into a home to be proud of. Rachel and James bought their Berkshire home nine years ago for £220,000, but, with two young sons, they're fast outgrowing the property and can't afford to move. What's more, the classic 1960s kitchen-diner layout doesn't work for family living and there's no direct access from the hallway to the kitchen, meaning the living room has become a corridor. The couple tried to rectify the situation by extending to the side of the house but this addition failed to alleviate their problems. They want a home that gives them more space for a more sociable life, but with a budget of £60,000, is a solution possible? Ed Lipton is a leading UK architect who specialises in creating aesthetically pleasing spaces in commercial and residential properties.

Volet 2 : Ugly House to Lovely House

There are ugly houses, and then there is Nick and Sonia's house - an appallingly designed afterthought that is essentially a flat spread over three dysfunctional car parking spaces. George Clarke charges award-winning architects Abigail Ashton and Andrew Porter with creating something beautiful from this monstrosity. Together the architects have made their reputation by creating extraordinary, innovative homes in the most suburban of settings. But working with a budget of £75k, can they transform this foul flat into a proper home with two floors? And what will the neighbours make of the changes?

Volet 3 : Ugly House to Lovely House

Martijn and Sally are desperate to transform their impractical upside-down house. Dominated by a big double garage, this 1980s mishmash of living spaces is so badly laid out that to get from the kitchen to the garden you must go through the master bedroom - not ideal for a family that love to barbecue. George Clarke introduces the couple to innovative architect Greg Blee, who has recently been busy designing lavish projects in the Caribbean. Can he turn his talents to something much smaller, and will he be able to create a design that works on Martijn and Sally's budget of £65,000?

Volet 6 : Ugly House to Lovely House

George Clarke introduces award-winning architect Carl Turner to Darren and Hannah, who hope to redesign their bungalow home in Heathfield, East Sussex, on a budget of £45,000. Carl proposes a radical revamp, to be done in stages as finances allow. But with another baby on the way, Darren is keen for the family to get the most space possible now. With money running out and the roof leaking, will the refurb be completed in time for the new arrival? Dir\/
